QuattroPole Swing Exchange

Swing (Lindy Hop, Charleston, Authentic Jazz and Blues) has grown in popularity in recent years  in the four cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier in local dance halls. Visits to neighbouring regions have been a feature from the outset, as the dancers share their passion and enthusiasm – and take advantage of classes and the many soirées. They also share the same philosophy: dance is a form of communication that breaks down barriers and transcends differences.

The organisers have long been considering projects that can help to strengthen relationships between their cities. This is how QuattroPole Swing came about, with a view to contributing to cross-border communications in the field of swing and to set up shared projects. This shared brainstorming has already resulted in a webpage centralising information about events in the four groups and an annual exchange project. The purpose of this project is to bring together the dancers from the four cities over two weekends in May; on the programme, there is dancing of course, but also exploration of the QuattroPole Swing cities.

Over two weekends in May, almost 200 international dancers of all ages will be getting together for this one-of-a-kind event. In each city, the programme will feature a swing soirée with live music, a brunch, picnics and guided tours. Novice dancers will also be welcome at the beginners’ courses organised before each swing soirée. The unifying theme of both weekends is the QuattroPole choreography, in the form of a flash mob, specially created for the occasion.

Dates for the QuattroPole Swing Exchange in 2018:

From the 3rd to the 5th May in Trier and Luxembourg, and from the 10th to the 12th May 2019 in Metz and Saarbrücken.
